The Glasgow Subway Festival is returning this weekend and, as well as on train cabaret performances, petting zoos and an underground fairground, there are lots of food related frolics going down.

The Scotland Street School Museum is running baking classes while the farmers’ market at Mansfield Park should provide a happy hunting ground for anyone looking for a Sunday roast.

On Saturday night, 5pm members Sloans are hosting a Starlight Dinner Cabaret and, not ones to let the weekend come to a close early, they are also running the splendidly named Rockwork Work Orange party on Bank Holiday Sunday.

In association with Rock Radio, the bar and restaurant is laying on a night of musical entertainment with some surprise appearances from secret celebrity guests who will be stopping in to jam with some of Scotland’s best up and coming acts.

Alfonzo, Alto Elite, Peep Show and White Ace will be performing in the Ballroom. Downstairs, the restaurant will be rocking out to music from Demon’s Eye and Ryan Bisland while guests can get in on the action with Guitar Hero Championships.

If that sounds a little too raucous then The Living Room bar and restaurant on St Vincent Street is getting into the Glasgow Subway Festival spirit by offering customers two cocktails for the price of one, in exchange for their used Subway ticket over the weekend.
