Now that everyone (apart from me…) is jetting offer to sunnier climes for a week or two, the attention of the foodie community appears to be swinging towards the much mulled-over topic of airline meals.

This interesting piece on the Times Online site looks into which airline serves up the best grub.

Not meaning to resort to cliche, but I’ve always found aeroplane food to be on the wrong side of edible and, more often than not, resembling pond life. However, it appears that all has changed and the airlines have brought in the big guns, such as Aldo Zilli, who helps out Thomsonfly.

If even wee Aldo can’t convince you of the merits of an airline meal, you can try Gordon Ramsay’s Plane Food restaurant which is at Terminal 5 in Heathrow Airport, when the terminal itself isn’t closed anyway.

Has anyone actually had a decent meal with any of these airlines?
