The current weather may have more in common with the Baltic states than Barcelona but that hasn’t stopped a Glasgow bar from trying to bring a little Catalan sunshine to the Southside.
From the 24th of May, 1901 bar on Pollokshaws Road will be the home of Boqueria, a new tapas venture named after the public food market on Barcelona’s Las Ramblas.
As well as tapas such as spicy meatballs; chorizo in red wine sauce; fried whitebait with salsa and chickpea fritters served with assorted dips, diners can look forward to a special paella night every Thursday.
There will also be live Spanish music every Saturday night and flamenco dancers every fortnight.
‘Ole!’ as they’ll soon be saying in Shawlands.
