The Pommery Champagne Bar by night

The Pommery Champagne Bar opened this weekend in the amazing Signet Library on Edinburgh’s Parliament Square.

A trial run last year was a big success so the organisers decided to put the champagne on ice and load up the afternoon tea stands for a second bash this festival.

Along with oodles of splendid champagne, the treats on offer include antipasto platters, soups, salads, sandwiches and the house speciality – lobster with potato wedges.

Normally, access to the Signet Library is restricted to lawyers so the Pommery pop-up is a great chance to sneak a peak at the elegant Georgian interior.

The library looks out onto Parliament Square and the heaving crowds who have gathered to watch the street performers. But while the Fringe madness is only a few metres away, all is cool, calm and collected in the Pommery Champagne Cafe Bar.

Incidentally, if bubbles really float your boat, they are running tutored champagne tastings on the 14/15 August.
