Last year, Jeff Bland, Executive Chef at The Balmoral Hotel, won the Chef of the Year award.

The hotly anticipated Scottish Restaurant Awards ceremony takes place this evening at Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh. Once more, Tam Cowan will be announcing the winners in his own,  inimitable style.

Run in association with the Daily Record and 5pm.co.uk since 2009, this evening’s event is this year’s finale for the most respected restaurant awards in Scotland.

Designed to champion Scotland’s fantastic array of culinary talent, they have a great track record in picking out emerging talent and recognising the people and restaurants which enhance the country’s reputation for offering the finest food and drink.

The full list of finalists can be found here and, if you scroll back down the blog, you will find thumbnail sketches of all the finalists.

Winners

The awards have been months in planning and the team of judges have carried out extensive site visits to the finalists in each category. Their findings have been discussed in depth and, after much deliberation, the winner in each category has been selected.

Some of the categories produced straightforward winners. Other categories required much more thought before a winner became clear.

Live tweeting

We’ll post a full list of the winners in each category in the early hours of tomorrow morning and I’ll be tweeting the results live as they are announced from @JonathanTrew
