Much excitement in Glasgow as the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill counts down to its launch on Thursday.

Located in Hotel Indigo in Waterloo Street, it is the second Scottish outlet for the fiery chef. The first was the branch of Wheeler’s of St James’s which opened in the Aston Hotel in Dumfries last year.

The new MPW Steakhouse Bar and Grill replaces the Limelight restaurant.

28-day aged steak

Naturally, the new venture serves a range of 28-day aged steaks but the menu also features fish pies, fish ‘n’ chips, roast rump of lamb, steak pies and sausage ‘n’ mash.

Alongside starters such as crab cakes and tomato soup, the menu offer sharing platters. The seafood platter involves smoked salmon, prawn cocktail, crab cakes and white bait.

Best of British

The Best of British platter sounds rather mouth-watering. An upmarket charcuterie platter it features potted duck, Glamorgan cheese sausage, cured ham and black pudding – all with their own piccalilli, chutney or compote.

The wine list is well written with lots of info about which wines pair best with the various dishes. As well as many wines available by the glass, the bottles start at £18 for a light Italian Cab Sav rising to £130 for a premier cru Chassagne Montrachet.
