The future is bright at Aperol Spritz Gardens.

We may be gearing up for the final week of the Fringe but no-one is slowing down yet. Strap in for final week frolics at the Aperol Spritz Garden in St Andrew Square.

To help your festival go with a swing (and a chuckle), 5pm Dining have teamed up with our chums at Aperol Spritz for a series of ticket giveaways to some of the hottest shows on the Fringe.

This week, the fantabulous prize is for an Aperol Spritz kit plus a pair of tickets to see the ever bouncy Des Clarke perform his brilliant show: The Trouble with Being Des in the Assembly Rooms.

The tickets are for his show taking place at 7.30pm on Saturday 23rd August.

How to enter

To enter the competition, all you have to do is to head over to the 5pm Facebook page here and like & comment on the post with your name. Entry will close at midnight on Wednesday 20th August and the winner will be notified on Thursday 31st.

The Aperol Spritz kit will be sent out to your home address and your tickets will be at the Box Office of the venue where the show is on.

The Trouble with Being Des

Host of Scotland’s Capital Breakfast Show and Daily Record columnist, Des is an award-winning comedian who first appeared at the Fringe as a teenager.

Hot from his gig at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the comic’s show is all about Des finding himself at a crossroads in life. It’s been a bumpy ride so far…

Audiences are loving it. This is what one audience member had to say:

‘Excellent! 5/5. Fast paced energetic self deprecating observational Scottish humour at its best. Didn’t stop laughing all the way through. Can’t recommend enough.’

Aperol Spritz goes Venetian

Now resident in St Andrew Square, the Aperol Spritz Garden has everything needed to get you in the festival mood.

For 2014 The Aperol Spritz Garden is a Venetian hideaway with a modern twist. Imagine orange groves; wooden terracing covered with Italian lounge furniture; idyllic water features; cosy heaters, beanbags, and grassy picnic areas filled with deck chairs.

Open from 11am-midnight until the 25th of August, the Aperol Spritz Gardens are the festival’s coolest place to hang out and chill with an Aperol Spritz.

Pop in before your show or stick around afterwards to soak up the atmosphere.

Expect sunshine

We’re expecting sunshine, of course, but just in case there’s plenty of cover to make sure the summer showers don’t dampen the party spirit while you lap up a vibrant programme of live world music on the talent-filled Aperol Spritz Showcase Stage.

It’s an eclectic line-up. Over the next week, there are performances by:

The Litigators – sprinkling the raw power of The Stooges and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with the subtly of The Smiths.

Rayguns Look Real Enough – one of the most unique double acts in the UK, they combine high quality music and insane mash ups to deliver an unique entertainment experience infusing cabaret, comedy and rock n roll.

Flora MacNeil – described as the ‘Queen of Gaelic singers,’ Flora is one of the leading figures to bring Scottish traditional folk music to the attention of the public in the 1950s.

Hannah Gadsby**** – award-winning Australian comedian who thinks quickly and moves slowly.  She is sardonic, laconic and, after numerous bone crunching accidents, bionic.  Her droll delivery, delightful wordplay and heart-breakingly funny, self-deprecating observations have delighted audiences all over the world.
