At the risk of our eyes going a little misty, the 5pm Dining blog has fond memories of a time when lunch was often more jolly than a meagre meal deal at the office desk.

It was a glorious time to be alive and an era in which a couple of bottles of vino collapso over a three hour lunch was in no way considered extravagant.

Sigh…

Anyway, we were delighted to see that Chef Mark Greenaway is doing his bit to revive the lost art of lunching.

The Chef Patron at Bistro Moderne by Mark Greenaway and Restaurant Mark Greenaway is running a rather tasty lunch-based competition.

Lunch for 20

Aimed at Edinburgh offices, the winner will have Mark and his team pop around to their office and cook lunch for up to 20 people.

As well as chefs, the sommelier will be there to serve matching wine.

A kitchen porter will also be provided – no washing up!

To win the competition, write to Mark and tell him why you should win. Unique and imaginative answers are encouraged.

Email your answer to mark@rmgedinburgh.com by Thursday the 6th of November to be in with a chance to win.

The winner will be announced on Friday 7th November.

Book in for lunch

Just so we are all clear, this is not a 5pm competition but is being run by Chef Greenaway. The full terms and conditions are here.

If you don’t scoop the prize then it’s easy to enjoy lunch at Restaurant Mark Greenaway. The market menu costs £17 for two courses or £22 for three.

You can browse a sample market menu and book in from Restaurant Mark Greenaway’s 5pm entry.
