metropolitan-barDining to impress in Glasgow? You won’t fail with Metropolitan. Based in nightlife hub the Merchant City, Metropolitan is where the city’s beautiful people to go dine, drink and mingle.

Merchant Square

Situated in the first floor of Merchant Square, a former Victorian fruit market which now hosts a number of bars and restaurants, Metropolitan offers perfect people watching opportunities, both of those dining and drinking under a twinkling canopy of fairy lights in the square, as well as the cobbled streets of the Merchant City outside.

Boasting a Laurent-Perrie Champagne bar as well as a piano and cocktail lounge, Metropolitan radiates class, harking back to an era when cocktails were sipped in a dimly lit room with piano entertainment.

Cocktail list

Metropolitan’s cocktail list is one of its biggest draws and it is often named as serving the best cocktails in the city. The menu includes old favourites such as Long Island Iced Teas and White Russians as well as more adventurous choices such as “Cuban Hottie” – Brugal Anejo and Sailor Jerry shaken with lemon, lime & pineapple juice topped with an Absinthe flame or “Smoked Cinnamon Mai-Tai” – Brugal Anejo shaken with almond syrup, lemon juice and sugar, topped with Goslings dark rum and served in a cinnamon smoked glass.

Modern Scottish food

When it comes to the food, don’t be mistaken for thinking Metropolitan have chosen style over substance. The kitchen’s ethos is traditional Scottish dining with a modern twist using fresh local produce. Dishes include stuffed supreme of chicken, creamed spinach, fondant potato and a redcurrant jus; trio of Hatton Farm pork, savoy cabbage, apple and thyme sauce, and choice of 8oz rump, sirloin and fillet steaks.
