Loks Bar and Kitchen is open for business on the southside.

On Glasgow’s Southside, Loks Bar and Kitchen is finding its feet after opening earlier this month.

In another life, the Newlandsfield Road address used to be home to Pollok FC Social Club. After a huge renovation job, it is now Loks Bar and Kitchen, the Trophy Bar and the Newlandsfield function suite.

Beer garden

The site also has an outside dining area and beer garden for the warmer months.

The Trophy Bar is a sports bar with a traditional library feel and a particular emphasis on craft beers which are dispensed from ‘serve yourself’ fridges.

As well as German brews, the bottles on offer include varieties from Scottish brewers such as the Williams Bros and Innis & Gunn.

Classic cocktails and a forty strong wine list complete the drinks offer.

Food is available all day from breakfast through light bites to the full menu offering.

Local suppliers

Local suppliers like McLays butchers and Newlands Home Bakers fuel the kitchens.

The various menus cover most bases from a full Scottish breakfast to 21 day, dry-aged steaks. The main menu flits from pastas and salads to burgers, skewers and our old friend fish and chips.

The 5pm Dining blog was particularly pleased to see that a section of the menu is devoted to pies.

There are currently two on offer: a braised beef and a slow cooked pork shoulder.

Both have beers specifically recommended for the pies; a nutty Belhaven Scottish ale for the beef and a zesty Southern Pale Ale for the pork.
