Here at 5pm we pride ourselves on our excellent value dining offers. However, during the month of January our pride swells to new levels.

This is due to our 5pm dining January sale. Throughout the sale, top restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh, for a price point of just £12, offer two courses, three courses, and/or added extras such as drinks.

So even if you’re feeling the pinch after Christmas, you don’t have to spend more than £12 to enjoy a meal in some of Scotland’s best restaurants.

We’ve taken at look at our January Sale deals and selected eight restaurants we think are offering amazing value for money. Take advantage of them while you can.

The Sisters Jordanhill

The Sisters Jordanhill is the flagship restaurant from sisters Jacqueline and Pauline O’Donnell, two of the most recognised figures in Glasgow’s restaurant scene. Adhering to their motto “big sister cooks, little sister serves,” Pauline looks after the running of their Jordanhill and Kelvingrove restaurants while Jacqueline’s traditional Scottish cooking has found her fame and recognition, most recently with an appearance on BBC show The Great British Menu.

Such high quality food, all sourced locally (Jacqueline is a staunch advocate of Scottish produce) costs money and with main courses on the a la carte menu priced £17 on average, our January Sale offer of £12 for three courses is nothing short of astonishing. The menu even includes Jacqueline’s famous puff candy meringue. Make sure you don’t miss this offer.

Tucked away in an atmospheric courtyard in Edinburgh’s cobbled old town, the bistro at Hotel Du Vin is a gorgeous place to enjoy a meal. The menu is described as “British with a French twist” and with sample dishes including Provencal ratatouille & chickpea tart crispy hen’s egg and Perigord influenced confit duck leg lentil du puy, our January sale offer of £12 for two courses is excellent value indeed. If you’re feeling particularly decadent you can always enjoy a dram or a cigar in the hotel’s whisky snug. Learn more about the hotel’s history in our video on YouTube.

Bar Soba Edinburgh

If you think the pan Asian inspired menu at Edinburgh’s Bar Soba is mouthwatering (chicken sate roti,  and cinnamon treacle tart with coconut ice cream are some of the dishes on offer) just watch this video of Bar Soba’s chef whipping up Burmese pork curry with Asian greens and try to stop the dribble spilling on to your keyboard. Their January Sale offer is a good one, £12 for three courses, and the tropical dishes are the perfect antidote to this miserable winter weather.

Located somewhat off the beaten track in Glasgow’s East End, Celino’s is worth travelling for. A family run business which which has served authentic Italian dishes since 1982, in a city filled with Italian restaurants some more authentic than others, Celino’s is the real deal.

A common theme with its 5pm reviews seems to be surprise at how good this hidden gem is – recent comments include “This will be our new favourite place in Glasgow from now on!” and “Really enjoyed the food. Lovely to see a local, independent establishment being so busy.” Their excellent value January Sale offer, three courses for £12, is an ideal opportunity to try this restaurant if you haven’t before.

Situated in Edinburgh’s West End, with a door leading to The Lyceum theatre, Zucca is conveniently located in the city’s theatre district.
