Fish and chips at 56 North
Fish and chips at 56 North

We’ve been sending some 5pm staff members out to visit our restaurants and give us their take on some of your favourite places. Here, 5pm Customer Care member Scott visits 56 North in Edinburgh’s West End.

Describe the decor/atmosphere of 56 North

This is a bar restaurant and so is very lively, there’s a really good buzz. The decor is lovely with comfy seats that had nice cushions and the tables are spaced out well.

There are a variety of seating arrangements to suit different dining occasions, nice booths for couples, larger tables for groups up to ten, and options in between.

What dishes did you and your dining partner have?

We had fish and chips, the Tower burger and sides – onion rings, corn on the cob with paprika butter and sweet potato wedges with sour cream and chive dip.

What did you like about the food?

The food was a good contemporary take on classics dishes that were well cooked and well presented. You could taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients and nothing was too greasy considering the nature of the food.

The portion sizes were large, it was good value for money.

Tell us 3 things you liked the most

I loved the atmosphere,  quality of the food and music was really mixed

Why should others try the restaurant?

56 North is ideally located near Edinburgh city centre and has an outstanding gin selection [it’s a gin bar]. I cannot fault the whole experience we had, everything was great.

Anything else you’d like to add?

The staff were very friendly and attentive despite it being a busy Friday night. We were very happy with our dining experience at 56 North!
