Drink wine, help charity.
Drink wine, help charity.

Having a bulbous red nose has sometimes been associated with being overly fond of the bottle.

Happily, we can all help give the idea of a red nose some better connotations thanks to this year’s Comic Relief Wine Fair.

Taking place in The Assembly Rooms on Edinburgh’s George Street on Thursday 12th March, the event promises an evening of wine tasting, competitions, a quiz, raffle and auction.

Over 20 exhibitors have signed up and these range from supermarkets such as Waitrose and Lidl to wine merchants like Berry Bros and Rudd as well as wine shops such as Great Grog, Vino and Peter Green.

Sample more than 100 wines

There will be over a hundred wines available to sample on the night and, of course, it’s all for the Comic Relief charity.

The 5pm Dining blog has been before and it’s a fun evening.

Tickets cost £20 plus an online booking fee and you can buy from Rose Murray Brown’s website.

Tickets for this wine fair are also available to buy in participating Edinburgh wine shops:

Vino wine shop in North West Circus Place; Villeneuve Wines, Broughton St; Great Grog, Dalkeith Rd; Woodwinters, Newington Rd.

The event runs 7pm-9.30pm.

You will need to bring your ticket with you to gain entry to the event.  Over 18 years only.  ID may be required if you are lucky enough to look younger.
