Hardeep Singh Kohli’s new VDeep operation has attracted plenty of headlines but it’s not the only new opening in Leith.

Last week, Anfora opened in the Vaults on Giles Street in the capital. A couple of hundred years back, the Vaults were used to store wine, often Bordeaux, so it’s fitting that Anfora is proud to call itself a wine bar.

Their food looks fantastic.

While VDeep and Anfora have launched in Leith, a former Leith restaurant has just re-opened after relocating to Tollcross.

Formerly a fixture on Commercial Street, Guchhi Indian restaurant has now set up home on East Fountainbridge.

While the address has changed, the menus remain focused on seafood. Tandoori crab, scallops in a Bombay duck sauce and oysters with a curry crumb all feature alongside more familiar kormas and tandoori lamb chops.

Guchhi runs a tapas menu as well as a more conventional starter and main course options.

Staying in Tollcross, we’re keeping an eye on the corner site opposite the King’s Theatre and Tuk Tuk restaurant.

For a while now, it has looked as though it was turning into The Killer Restaurant.

We’re not sure but we think it may be linked to the Kismot Restaurant – home of the Kismot Killer.
