Macsween's British beef and haggis burger: no more beef/haggis dilemmas.
Macsween’s British beef and haggis burger: no more beef/haggis dilemmas.

These are exciting times for Macsween as the family-run company expand their product range beyond their existing haggis and black pudding options.

From today, the company are selling their new British beef and haggis burgers in branches of Sainsbury.

It would make perfect sense for the firm to hitch a ride on the current burger boom but according to James Macsween, MD and owner, he has been freestyling haggis burgers for yonks: ‘I’ve been making beef and haggis burgers for family and friends for years and everyone has always raved about how great they are so it’s a dream come true to share them with our consumers.

Juicy, smooth and spicy

‘While we have always promoted the versatility of haggis, our new burger is a particularly fantastic way to enjoy haggis all year round. We hope the burger will be enjoyed by both existing consumers and new consumers who may not already eat haggis, but love burgers. My recipe makes a succulent, juicy burger, with a smooth texture and lots of wonderful haggis spice flavour.’

The 5pm Dining blog has got some of the haggis and beef burgers and we’ll be grilling them up shortly.

Give it a few days and we’ll report back on the results along with a chat with the Macsweens about their plans for the future.

The British Beef and Haggis Burger will launch into Dobbies Foodhalls, selected Scottish Sainsbury’s stores as well as deli’s and farm shops from today, at £2.99 RRP.
