The 5pm Dining blog would like to say a big Howdie to The Boozy Cow as it establishes itself on new grazing grounds in Edinburgh.

The first Boozy Cow bar launched in Aberdeen last year and proved so popular that the idea quickly hoofed it down the A90 and set up shop in the former Amicus Apple premises on Frederick Street.

Craft beers and burgers

Open until 1am, seven nights a week, The Boozy Cow is all about craft beers, boozy milk shakes and burgers. DJs will play on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

The decor blends urban art, graffiti and reclaimed fixtures and fittings. Delightfully dim on the lighting front, the place is tricked out like an edgy dive bar and, in keeping with the deliberately down-at-heel vibe, there are no plates or cutlery. Diners eat with their hands from sheets of paper

Can you handle the Chilli Challenge?
Can you handle the Chilli Challenge?

Man Vs Food fans may wish to attempt the Chilli Challenge. Contestants have fifteen minutes to wolf down one chilli cheese burger, one chilli dog, one portion of chilli cheese fries and one Oreo milkshake.

Manage that little lot within the allotted time and it’s on the house. Fail  and you’ll have to cough up for your food.

Million Dollar Milk shake

We would rather take our time and enjoy a Holy Cow burger with a Million Dollar Milkshake. The burgers are all made on the premises fresh every morning.

The Boozy Cow is part of The Speratus Group Ltd. Their other bars include The Golf Tavern and 99 Hanover Street in Edinburgh plus The Illicit Still and Paramount in Aberdeen.
