First of all, we’ll nip across to Brian Maule at Chardon D’Or which has just re-opened after a refurbishment.

It all looks very chic. We also liked the look of his lunch menu at £20.50 for two courses.

Cannelloni of smoked salmon and haddock with shellfish cream followed by pot-roasted leg of pork with spiced cous cous, tomato, saffron and cardamom sauce?

It’s tickled our appetite.

Gusto is looking sharp

As we noted last week, Gusto has been finding its feet after launching on Bothwell Street.

The 5pm Dining blog had a blast at their launch party last Thursday.

Previously a branch of the Clydesdale Bank, it has undergone a £1.3 million makeover and it’s not hard to see where the money was spent.

In particular, the island bar is spectacular. We can also see the terrace being popular on blue sky days.

The menu is contemporary Italian with the occasional curve ball thrown in. A pizza topped with roasted crispy duck on a hoisin base seems a little out of place among the crab and chilli spaghetti and the classic Caprese salads.

The healthy living menu seems an astute move. Gusto is keen to attract Glasgow’s beautiful people and a starter of salmon tartare with a quail’s egg is perhaps more likely to keep the pounds at bay than a helping of garlic pizza bread.

Next up, we know the blog is behind the pack on this but Ranjit’s Kitchen on Pollokshaws Road is attracting a lot of attention.

Billed as a family-run deli serving homemade Panjabi food, it was given a big thumbs-up by Joanna Blythman in the Sunday Herald a couple of Sundays back.

Sub Hub pop-up

Finally, the ever busy Briony on the ever informative Yelp Glasgow site has alerted the blog to the existence of the Sub Hub, a very intriguing pop-up cafe, bar and performance space on the sixth floor of the Argyll Arcade…
