Corinthian french toastWhen planning the perfect weekend, a Saturday or Sunday brunch has to feature in the line up. Whether the cure to an over indulgent Friday night out or a wake up boost after a long lie, a weekend brunch is a comforting treat.

The Corinthian in Glasgow’s Merchant City has launched a new brunch menu letting you enjoy this treat in its stunning 19th century surroundings.

The new menu features classics like the full Scottish breakfast and poached eggs Benedict as well as favourites like griddled pancakes with smoked bacon.

There are also ample options for vegetarians like the vegetarian breakfast with vegetarian sausage, potato scone, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans and scrambles eggs.

For a lighter brunch, the natural yoghurt with berry compote or mini Danish with mixed fruit preserves would be prefect choices.

We opted for the French toast with berry compote, a brunch classic (above) plus the Scottish brunch favourite, smoked haddock with creamed spinach and a poached egg.

Of course, we had to have the staple of every brunch, a coffee (or two).

We were stuffed after the brunch but chatted for so long after we felt like a little bit of sweetness to finish things off so decided on the sticky toffee pudding and creme brûlée.
