Congratulations are due to Victor and Carina Contini’s Cannonball Restaurant. Located by Edinburgh Castle, the restaurant has been shortlisted as a regional finalist in the Visit Scotland Thistle Awards 2015.
It triumphed in the Best Restaurant Experience category and will now go forward to the national final in March.
Both Continis have deep roots in the hospitality industry and the restaurant staff reckon that the Thistle Award win is down to what they call the ‘Victor welcome’.

The 5pm Dining blog ate at Cannonball earlier this year when they launched their Taste Scotland menu. We liked it a lot.
Cannonball is the third restaurant in the Contini family of restaurants. The Castlehill venue joins the original Contini Ristorante on George Street and The Scottish Cafe and Restaurant on The Mound.
Victor welcome aside, what all three have in common is the clever combination of Scots and Italian culinary heritages and the canny use of both imported, speciality Italian ingredients and very carefully sourced local produce.
