Thaikhun opens today in Glasgow’s Silverburn centre. Following in the footsteps of Scotland’s first Thaikhun in Aberdeen, it’s a Thai restaurant from the owners of the Chaophraya Thai Restaurant group.

If the Chaophraya in the city centre is the place for a dressy Thai feast then Thaikhun has a much more casual, drop-in vibe. It’s an ambience which is matched by the bric-a-brac Thai decor.

Pronounced ‘tycoon’, it aims to offer authentic Thai street food and a selection of regional specialities such as pla samun prai – a whole, deep fried bream with a tangy salad of red onions, lime, lemongrass, palm sugar, fish sauce and ginger, topped with peanuts, red chilli and fresh coriander.

Thaikhun is now on 5pm Dining here.

Sunday carvery at The Academy

Staying in Renfrewshire, The Academy Restaurant has started to offer a Sunday carvery.

Set in a former Rolls Royce factory, the kitchens are run by an award-winning UK Master Chef and his team.

Their menus go big on locally sourced Scottish produce, complemented by fresh vegetables and salads from the kitchen’s own Community Gardens in Hillington and Paisley.

Part of The Experience Leisure centre, The Academy Restaurant must be one of the few places where you can enjoy a go-karting session before or after sitting down to table service and a Sunday roast.
