Dedication’s what you need if you want to be a record breaker, as Roy Castle famously sang on the BBC show.

So Glasgow gin fans must be a dedicated bunch – 122 of them turned up at city centre bar The Trading House to take part in a world record breaking gin tasting event.

The record breaking attempt was held at multiple venues across the UK who are part of The Botanist and The Trading House group.

The evening ended in celebration as the official Guinness World Records adjudicator declared the attempt successful, with 796 gin tasters across the UK confirmed to have taken part.

The participants at The Trading House Glasgow were treated to gin from Tanqueray No. 10, Whitley Neill and Caorunn, with a mini masterclass on each.

Managing director of The New World Trading Company Chris Hill said: “We’re very proud of our extensive gin offering and it was great to have gin experts in each venue to give our guests more insight into the botanicals which make Tanqueray 10, Whitley Neill and Caorunn Gin so special.”

The Trading House Glasgow business development manager Taylor Campbell said: “We’re over the moon to successfully set a new world record – it was a brilliant night and we loved working alongside all the other venues in the company for a united effort. To have 796 people at nine venues simultaneously taste gin is a truly amazing feat of teamwork and organisation.”
