six°north are helping to keep Partick refreshed.

Spring is in the air and the restaurateurs and licensees of Scotland’s Central Belt certainly seem to be feeling the effects of the rising sap.

Hot on the heels of our new restaurant blogs on Monday and Tuesday, here are some more Glasgow openings which are springing up like crazeee daffodils.

First up, we understand that Dumpling Inn on Sauchiehall Street has steamed its last pork and cabbage parcel.

A new joint called Hong Kong Bite is said to be replacing it. Asian street food will, apparently, be the name of the game.

As you may have guessed, details are a little sketchy about that one. We’re a lot more certain about our next newbie nugget.

six°north in Glasgow

Partick’s Velvet Elvis went off grid a few weeks ago. As of last weekend, the Dumbarton Road premises have been playing host to the first Glasgow outlet for six°north.

Starting off as a brewery in Stonehaven, the six°north group now features bars in Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Glasgow.

Plans for an Edinburgh branch are said to be maturing nicely and the as yet unmentioned new location aims to launch this spring.

With 30 taps in action, the new Glasgow bar promises six°north favourites and Belgian classics alongside ‘Scotland’s emerging greats plus top brews from across the UK’.

Naturally, everyone will be after some grub to help soak up that little lot. Visitors can look forward to ‘petits plats de cuisine a la bière Belgique’ – which translates as beer soup, cheese and charcuterie platters, whole Camembert cheeses baked in beer plus rich, Flemish beef stews.

New Italian

Finally – and we know we are behind the curve on this one – Lamora Italian on Argyle Street has become Mora Bar and Kitchen, also an Italian.

Diners can tuck into ‘modern, Italian-inspired cooking and tasty tipples’.

The admirably concise menu is here.

We’ll be back tomorrow with news of an imminent new Edinburgh opening.
