Actually, keep your peepers peeled for new places in Bearsden, Lenzie, the city centre and Dundee: The Grove, The Larder, Smoke Barbecue and The Beer Kitchen from Innis & Gunn.

Glasgow’s city centre is seldom quiet when it comes to new openings. The suburbs and outlying commuter towns don’t do too badly either.

Spread over Bishopbriggs, Milngavie and Lenzie, The R Group already operate Oregano, The Eagle Lodge, Garvie & Co plus Rasoi Indian Kitchen.

Joining their merry band over the next few weeks are The Grove and The Larder.

The Grove

The Grove is taking shape in the Lenzie premises where Carriages Bar and Irrocco used to sit. We understand that it will be a diner, bar and bakery with, according to the well informed Dram, a rooftop terrace.

The bar, kitchen and bakery combo may be unusual but it seems to be doing just fine at Garvie & Co in Milngavie.

A wood-burning pizza stove is certainly part of the plan judging by their Facebook page.

The Larder

The team are also buy transforming Bearsden’s former Las Ramblas site into The Larder.

Fine foods, small plates and puddings are promised.

Smoke Barbecue

Back in the centre of town, there is more BBQ action on the go.

Remember how, back in February, we told you that Smoke Barbecue were expanding into Glasgow from their base in the North of England?

They open today on West Regent Street.

Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchen

Moving over the other side of the country to Dundee, we note that Innis & Gunn have opened a second branch of their Beer Kitchen – a concept whose name pretty much says it all.

The new branch is on Tay Street after the first Beer Kitchen launched successfully on Edinburgh’s Lothian Road last year.
