When Martin Wishart’s The Honours Glasgow opened in 2014 it was to justified fanfare – after all its not every day a multiple Michelin starred chef launches a new restaurant in the city. Since then The Honours has established itself as one of the most exciting additions to Glasgow’s restaurant scene, winning awards and rave reviews from critics and customers alike.

One of the most enticing 5pm offers at The Honours Glasgow is its Sunday Lunch. For just £39.90 per couple for two courses and a glass of wine each, it is maybe the most enjoyable way to spend the last hours of the weekend. Here’s three reasons why we think you should dine on Sunday lunch at The Honours Glasgow.

1. The Food

The Honours

A menu developed by a multiple Michelin star awarded chef, considered to be one of the best in Scotland, offers high expectations and the Sunday lunch menu at The Honours doesn’t fail to meet them. The restaurant is known for its high quality meat and while dishes change seasonally, the main course section currently includes roast sirloin of Donald Russell beef, navarin of new season lamb, and confit duck leg. Seafood is represented by the smoked haddock chowder and poached fillet of cod. Vegetarians are not ignored, with current veggie dishes including goat’s cheese ravioli and saffron and broad bean risotto. The starter and dessert sections of the menu are just as enticing; Martin Wishart smoked salmon to start and The Honours sundae for dessert are our picks.

2. The Service

The Honours is opening in Glasgow's Malmaison.Scrolling through the 5pm users reviews of The Honours, one common thread appears: lavish praise of the service. Here are quotes from our latest reviews: “Sunday lunch was simply wonderful with very friendly and attentive but unobtrusive staff.” “A warm, friendly greeting was followed by excellent, attentive service throughout the meal.” “Staff were excellent – the right balance of friendliness, efficiency and attentiveness.” “Service was first class with waiter being very attentive.” From such a highly regarded name, with a previously established sister restaurant, The Honours in Edinburgh, it’s to be expected The Honours Glasgow recognises dining as an experience of which service is a critical part.

3. The Surroundings

Diners can see into the kitchen but the chefs prefer not to see out.

Glasgow’s Malmaison hotel, of which The Honours is inside, is striking in itself; a former Greek Orthodox church designed in 1838. But when you go downstairs to The Honours restaurant to be met with high ceilings, gilded columns, chandeliers and a chic cocktail bar, you are left in no doubt the surroundings match the elegance of the food.
