It’s the bank holiday and many of us will be planning a trip to the pub as part of the weekend’s schedule. Now, if you’re going to go to the pub, you may as well go to the best pub in Scotland. Happily, we have a few pointers as to which establishment that may be.
According to the inaugural Pub & Bar Magazine Awards, WEST On The Green is Scotland’s Pub of the Year. The stylish beer hall and restaurant was awarded with the title earlier this week at a special event hosted by journalist and broadcaster Jay Rayner at BAFTA, London.
Remarkable achievement
The winners were selected by Pub & Bar magazine’s internal judging panel on all of the aspects required to provide ultimate hospitality within the on-trade.
Petra Wetzel, founder of WEST On The Green, said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to win this prestigious award, and accept it on behalf of all our dedicated team at WEST. There are many fantastic pubs and bars throughout Scotland, so to be named the best in the country really is a remarkable achievement and honour!’
It has been quite a year for WEST On The Green. They celebrated their tenth birthday in March by unveiling a new brewery and a new Courtyard events space. We wrote about it here. The year before, WEST launched a chic new outlet in the West End: WEST On The Corner.
The new brewery on WEST’s site at the Templeton Building beside Glasgow Green multiplies its production capacity ten-fold. The £5million investment in the new facility has created half a dozen new jobs and will enable the fast-growing brewer to bottle its range of niche beers.
Offers and Big Deals
Keep an eye out for a couple of tasty Big Deals at both branches of WEST over the next couple of weeks.
If you can’t wait that long then you could always drop by this bank holiday weekend.
On Monday, you can enjoy one or two courses plus a beer from the Templeton menu at £10 or £13 respectively when you book into WEST On The Green through 5pm.
The weather may be looking a little damp at the moment but the forecast is for the sun to come out later in the weekend – the perfect excuse to settle in to the beer garden at WEST On The Green.
