Wine dinner at Woodstock Estate: coming to The Buttery at Two Fat Ladies.
Wine dinner at Woodstock Estate: coming to The Buttery at Two Fat Ladies.

Last week, we pointed out a few of the more interesting wine dinners which are taking place in Edinburgh over the next few weeks.

For this blog, our attention turns to Glasgow.

Spanish Wine Dinner

Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens is the venue for this evening of fine food and wines from the Rioja and Rueda regions of Spain. Marqués de Riscal is one of the oldest Rioja wineries and was founded in Elciego (Álava) in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga. They aim to make wines which are original, fresh, elegant and easy to drink.

Costs £68.50 including arrival drink and canapés, a four course dinner with four wines to match.

Takes place on Thursday 23rd June 2016.

Woodstock Wine Experience Dinner

Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery have teamed up with the wine merchants Inverarity Morton for this wine experience and dinner.

Scott Collett, owner of Woodstock Wine Estate, will present and serve some of his favourite wines produced on the estate in Australia’s McLaren Vale.

Scott will introduce diners to the history of Woodstock, the story behind the estate and the wines, his family traditions and the experiences that define the philosophy of Woodstock Wines.

The evening will begin with a wine reception and canapés followed by a five course menu designed to complement each of the wines. The evening will be rounded off with coffee and tea served with petit fours.

Tickets are priced at £88 per person and are available to purchase from Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery.

Takes place on Thursday 7th July 2016.

Taste of Scotland Food and Wine Tasting

Master of Wine Rose Murray Brown will be giving one of her excellent master classes at Abode Restaurant on July 1st.

Scottish produce will be at the heart of the evening. Smoked salmon, venison charcuterie, duck, cheese, breads, oils and more will be matched to a selection of thirteen delicious wines from around the world.

No knowledge is required to enjoy this – just a love of good wine and food.

You can book tickets online. Tel: 07984 893138

Cost: £40; takes place Friday 1st July 2016.

G ‘n’ Sea Dinner

We were tickled by a G ‘n’ Sea dinner which Gamba is planning for Wednesday 31st August.

The restaurant is partnering with Makar Gin, a relative newcomer to the market which is hand-crafted, hand-bottled and distilled in the heart of Glasgow.

The concept is that two of the dishes on the menu will have a gin twist which will be reflected in the ingredients used. Two further dishes will be paired with Makar.

We have no further details yet but will pass them on as they become available.
