Enjoy the summer with Foodies Festival.
Enjoy the summer with Foodies Festival.

Unbelievably for those of us who remember the first Foodies Festival as though it were yesterday, the popular event is now celebrating its eleventh outing.

The UK’s largest celebration of food and drink returns to Inverleith Park in Edinburgh on the weekend of Friday 5th, Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th August.

And we are running a Big Deal on day passes to this popular event.

Last year, more than 38,000 people enjoyed a day Foodies in Edinburgh. If you want to join them this year, we advise getting your hands on some tickets pronto.

More cake?

Chef’s Theatre

As ever, the Chef’s Theatre will be a huge draw.

Here, you can watch top chefs cook their favourite recipes. Among others, look out for demos from Adam Handling (star of this year’s Great British Menu); Brian Grigor from Michelin-starred Number One at The Balmoral; Jacqueline O’Donnell of The Sisters; James Chapman from Tom Kitchen’s Scran & Scallie; Stuart Muir of DINE; Colin Fleming of The Printing Press; Fraser Allen of The Pompadour by Galvin; Neil Forbes of Café St Honoré; Mark Greenaway of Restaurant Mark Greenaway and Harajuku Kitchen’s Kaori Simpson.

At Artisan the market, you can shop and sample from more award-winning producers than ever before.

Street food

The Street Food Avenue offers a feast of international flavours and delicacies.

Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Argentinian, Turkish, Indian, Korean, Mexican, French and African are just some of the cuisines on offer.

To celebrate the Olympics being held in Brazil, there is a special focus on Brazilian street food including traditional Brazilian BBQ and Rio’s favourite dish: Feijoada made from black beans, salted pork, trimmings, smoked sausage and jerk beef – all cooked in a traditional clay pot.

Naturally, there will be no need to go thirsty. Say ‘Bottoms up!’ to Champagne, beer and whisky master classes in the Drinks Theatre.

Sweet tooth

Those with a sweet tooth will love the Cake & Bake Theatre. Visitors can taste their way through baking and chocolate master classes with Burlesque Baker Charlotte White and master chocolatier Fiona Sciolti.

If al fresco dining is more your thing, then the BBQ Arena is the place to be.

After a day of foodie fun, picnic on the grass with friends and family while enjoying live music from the Unsigned Music Awards. Of course, there is always the option of a refreshing cocktail from the Giant Pimm’s Teapot or Mojito Galleon.

Braver souls can enter the famous Chilli-Eating Competition.

Bush Tucker Trial

If mouth-scorching munching doesn’t appeal but you still want a challenge, pay a visit to the Vietnamese Street Food stand. Those with a taste for the exotic can indulge in insects, including grasshoppers, caterpillars, mealworms, beetles, scorpions, locus and ants.

There is also a daily Bush Tucker Trial where visitors compete against one another by eating jungle insects, from small ants to large juicy grubs. The contestant who eats the biggest bug and the most bugs wins. Good luck.

Under 12s go free

When accompanied by an adult, children under 12 years of age get free entry to Foodies. This is one family day out that need not break the bank.

Did we mention that we are running a Big Deal on day passes to this popular event?
