Amid the neoclassical columns and twinkling fairy lights of Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square sits the private members club, 29.

29 Glasgow has welcomed a number of VIP guests over the years, including Alex Ferguson, Rod Stewart, and Olly Murs.

Its restaurant, 29 – The Grill At The Square, is open to non members and is bookable on 5pm Dining. Here’s four reasons we think you should visit.

The Food

Steak at 29 - The Grill at The Square

The focal point of 29 – The Grill At The Square’s menu is undoubtedly their steaks. Boasting membership to the exclusive Scotch Beef Club, their prime steaks are dry-aged for 28 days for tenderness and flavour and are hand cut on the premises daily. There’s also USDA grain-fed sirloin and wagyu. Looking beyond steak, 29’s menu is filled with dishes created from locally sourced ingredients that change with the seasons; examples are chargrilled Perthshire lamb cutlets with haggis croquettes and gruyere cheese and Scottish oysters from Ballimore, as well as a fresh market dish of the day. Also worth checking out is the bread which is baked fresh at 29 daily.

The Surroundings

The decor is a glam, modern vibe with low lighting, curved leather banquettes and gothic chandeliers. The tables by the window overlook the canopy of fairy lights covering Royal Exchange Square.
