The Dine Out Edinburgh promotion is a great way to enjoy a meal out in the capital.

Until 2nd October, over 30 of the capital’s restaurants are offering two or three course menus, sometimes with a drink, for £15.95.

You can book online and search through menus and user reviews to find the dining experience that best suits you.

Edinburgh has a great variety of restaurants serving dishes from all over the world.

We have picked out six that showcase the many cuisines available.

Les Amis

French bistro dishes are cause for celebration at Les Amis.
French bistro dishes are cause for celebration at Les Amis.

Les Amis is a family-run French brasserie and deli which opened on Morrison Street in the summer of 2015. Elegant, white tiled walls and an eye-catching, mustard leather banquette, all lit by distinctive hanging lights, vie for attention with the well stocked deli counter. Les Amis is a comfortable hang out for a morning coffee and patisserie; a quick, or indeed a leisurely, lunch; after work aperitifs or a romantic evening meal.

Les Amis is offering three courses from the lunch menu or two courses from the pre-theatre menu for £15.95

We would order the pork rillettes which are served with gherkins, croutons and a salad followed by the baked cod fillet topped with a herb crust.

You can book into Les Amis via 5pm Dining.

Britannia Spice

Named after the Royal Yacht Britannia which is berthed nearby, Britannia Spice is located in a former whisky warehouse on Commercial Street. The restaurant itself is in ship-shape condition with rope ladders and ships’ helms carefully chosen to accentuate the maritime theme.

Britannia Spice serves multi-ethnic cuisine with dishes from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand. An AA Rosette for culinary excellence is the latest in a long line of awards.

As part of the Dine Out Edinburgh promotion, Britannia Spice is offering two courses from the a la carte menu plus a sundry dish and glass of wine for £15.95.

The tom yum soup followed by the amer murgh have our name on them. Who could say no to tender pieces of chicken cooked with mango pulp, cream and selected spices?

You can book into Britannia Spice via 5pm Dining.

Cadiz

Calamari from Cadiz: get it while it's hot.
Calamari from Cadiz: get it while it’s hot.

Opened in the summer of 2016, Cadiz is a cosmopolitan seafood restaurant on George Street in Edinburgh city centre. The menu takes much inspiration from the Mediterranean and the decor wouldn’t look out of place in a smart harbour restaurant in the South of France. Stripped stone and beach hut wooden walls mix comfortably with seafood-themed art and fashionably recycled storm lights. Both the cocktail and wine list reflect the menu’s emphasis on seafood.

£15.95 will buy you two courses from the 5pm menu plus cheesecake at Cadiz. Popular starters include the calamari which are crisp-fried and sprinkled with sea salt and chilli before being served with a smoked paprika alioli. From the main courses we can’t see past the grilled salmon fillet which is served with a chickpea, chorizo and red pepper casserole.

You can book into Cadiz via 5pm Dining.

Las Iguanas

Las Iguanas is a lively and colourful Latin American restaurant and bar on Edinburgh’s George Street. The street level dining room is great for watching the city centre street life while the basement room looks into the open plan kitchen. Rum, tequila and cachaca cocktails are a draw alongside an extensive range of wines, beers and softies.

From Brazilian coconut curries to Mexican burritos, the dishes at Las Iguanas span many South American cuisines. What all the dishes have in common is that they are made from fresh ingredients; the kitchen makes over 30 salsas and sauces each day.

Las Iguanas is offering two courses from their Dine Out menu for £15.95.

We want to try the xinxim – chicken and crayfish in a creamy lime and peanut sauce with spring onion rice, green beans, coconut farofa and sweet plantains.

Tables at Las Iguanas can be booked via 5pm Dining.

Seasons Vietnamese

Spring rolls are always popular at Seasons Vietnamese.

Edinburgh is well served for Thai restaurants but there is less opportunity to try dishes from its nearby neighbour. Seasons Vietnamese Restaurant on Newhaven Road is helping to change that. If you have ever wondered what people eat in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, this is your chance to find out.

Vietnamese food is aromatic, rich and varied. Fresh herbs are more characteristic of the cuisine than handfuls of chilli. At Seasons Vietnamese Restaurant, this means steaming bowls of pho, the national dish of meat broth, slippery rice noodles and beef, chicken, pork or seafood toppings. Alternatively, there is a great range of cold vermicelli dishes with crunchy roast peanuts and a punchy garlic and chilli sauce.

It’s £15.95 for three courses from the a la carte menu plus a drink. You can book a table at Seasons Vietnamese Restaurant via 5pm Dining.

The Mumbai Mansion

Mumbai Mansion offers a contemporary take on Indian cuisine. Overlooking the bustle of Haymarket, the interior is spacious and bright. The accent is on giving classic Indian flavours a modern makeover with close attention to style and presentation. The innovative menu includes grilled dishes using the traditional Indian tandoor, the Tawa hot plate and Sigri stove.

£15.95 will buy two courses from the Dine Out menu. Options include chicken pakora, lamb seekh kebabs, lamb jalfrezi and paneer karahi – cubes of cheese cooked with bell peppers in a spicy, tomato-based sauce. You can book into Mumbai Mansion via 5pm Dining.
