Fish and chips are just part of the offer at Catch.

Congratulations are due to Catch, the Giffnock restaurant and takeaway.

According to the 2017 National Fish & Chip Awards, the Fenwick Road venue is one of the top ten fish and chip restaurants in the UK.

Organised by Seafish, the awards are widely considered as the Oscars of the fish frying industry.

The ten businesses on the shortlist will now compete for the Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year Award. The winner will claim to the title of ‘best fish and chip restaurant’ in the UK.

Awards ceremony

The top accolade will be presented at the awards ceremony in London on 26 January 2017.

To get to this stage, the shortlisted restaurants have faced appraisal by industry experts across a wide variety of judging criteria.

These include fish sourcing policies; restaurant facilities and appearance; staff training and development practices; menu diversification and marketing and promotional activity.

They also received mystery shopping assessments to ascertain customer service levels and the quality of the fish and chips on offer.

The last Scottish winner was Frankie’s Fish & Chips. The Shetland chippie scooped the award in 2015.

Great reviews

Catch has certainly been a hit with 5pm Dining customers who have left comments such as these:

‘Everything was tasty and nicely presented, even down to the individual vinegar atomiser for one’s chips!’

‘Lovely food, fab service definitely go back.’

‘Ten out of ten. Portions very large and make sure your hungry. Fish was delicious.’

Different league

There is no doubt that Catch is in a different league from old school fish and chip restaurants.

Sourcing from sustainable Scottish fisheries, the restaurant cooks all its seafood to order from fresh. The chips are made with potatoes which are peeled daily, fried twice and cooked in rapeseed oil.

As well as the ever popular haddock, cod and scampi, Catch offers high end restaurant choices such as grilled lobster and scallops; pan-seared sole in brown butter and a salad ofh hot smoked Shetland salmon and prawns.

Traditional Scottish dishes such as Cullen skink are available as are more exotic choices like the sea bass in a chickpea and chorizo stew or the salt and chilli squid.

5pm Dining offer

If all this is making you want to set sail for Catch then you might want to net yourself a 5pm Dining offer.

For example, book Catch through 5pm and tomorrow you can enjoy a seafood platter and drink for £14.95.
