Is Glasgow ready for a Cuban revolution?
Is Glasgow ready for a Cuban revolution?

Glasgow has lots of new restaurants and bars in the pipeline.

Fresh from launching The Drugstore Social on Old Dumbarton Road, the Kained Holdings team have revealed new plans for their bar on Queen Margaret Drive.

The unit at 182 Queen Margaret Drive had been operating as What Comes Next. We understand that it will re-open as The Kelbourne Saint in November.

According to the bar’s Facebook page, it will be a family friendly chicken restaurant with a beer garden.

As you know, Kained Holdings already operate LebowskisPorter and RyeThe Finnieston et al.

Bungalow Cafe

Also in Glasgow, we note that Mother India on Westminster Terrace is working on a new venture called Bungalow Café.

Apparently, it will open in early 2017. More news as we get it.

Over on Renfield Street, at Culzean House to be specific, Revolucion de Cuba are gearing up for launch.

Salsa bands

Latin American menus, salsa bands and lashings of rum are promised. The company already has ten outlets in England and Wales. The Glasgow branch will be their first in Scotland.

Sticking with Renfield Street, La Tasca has shut its doors. According to a sign in the windows, something called Galletto will take its place.

The posters promise that there will soon be a new ‘chick in town’ so we’re guessing that chicken will feature prominently.

Beyond that, we can uncover nothing. If anyone knows more about the mysterious Galletto, feel free to drop us a line.

Mr Singh’s does tapas

Finally, the 5pm Dining blog would like to extend a warm welcome to Tapas at Singh’s.

A new development from the family behind Mr Singh’s India at Charing Cross, Tapas at Singh’s is part of the Soar Intu Braehead entertainment complex.

As the name suggests, tapas are the main focus of the menu although the staff in kilts also get their fair share of attention.

The restaurant’s cocktail and pakora master classes are yet another reason to visit.
