Paolo Nutini in Emily's Cafe.
Paolo Nutini in Emily’s Cafe.

Here at the 5pm Dining blog, we always love a good celeb spot in a restaurant.

So, we were tickled pink yesterday when Emily’s Cafe in Paisley posted a pic of the eponymous Emily with Paolo Nutini in her recently launched cafe.

Obviously, Paolo is a Paisley Buddie – his family run the Castelvecchi chippie in the town – but still, it’s not every day that a genuine chart-topping  pop star drops by for a cup of Joe and a bacon butty.

We always assumed that everyone who has had a Top Ten hit got by on truffled larks’ tongues washed down with cocktails made from Bolly and unicorn tears.

Or that may of been a dream we had. It’s getting harder to tell the difference.

Two courses for £10

Of course, Paolo was at Emily’s Cafe because he had noticed that the new venue had just popped up on 5pm Dining.

We’re not entirely sure if he had dropped by for the two afternoon teas for £20 deal or if he was booking in for an evening meal.

Two courses for a tenner and a BYOB policy with no corkage is an attractive proposition to everyone – including double platinum artists.

Great reviews

Much like Paolo, Emily’s Cafe has been a hit with reviewers. The cafe has only just appeared on 5pm Dining so it has yet to garner any reviews.

It’s a different story on the caff’s Facebook page where the following comments have been left.

‘Went in for lunch with my friend. Absolutely lovely. Would recommend to everyone and Emily is so nice and welcoming too. Looking forward to trying her evening meals with bring your own bottle.’

‘Emily’s cafe is very friendly and welcoming! Kids enjoy sitting at the kids’ table with colouring books! Lattes are great and the tablet is yummy. Would recommend x.’

‘Had a lovely lunch today in the cafe! Staff are so friendly and welcoming! A must visit!’

You can browse the menus and book into Emily’s Cafe via 5pm.

No promises but you never know who might drop by for a square sausage roll.
