When January rolls around we usually have a vague inclination to watch our pennies, watch our waistline and swap restaurant meals for smoothies and salads until February, at least.

But if you live in Glasgow or Edinburgh that would be a mistake as January is the time our 5pm dining sale goes live – and it has o****ffers you won’t get at any other time of the year.

On 5pm Dining, we currently have scores of restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh with dining sale offers priced at just £12.

With so many top restaurants offering genuinely unmissable deals, it can be difficult to know where to begin. So below, we’ve shared our tips on how to get the most from our 5pm Dining Sale.

In the meantime, just postpone the diet til March.

Restaurants you’ve been meaning to go to

Think of a restaurant you’ve been saying for ages you’d like to try but haven’t got round to yet. That restaurant that got a great review in a newspaper. The one that opened last year and quickly developed a buzz. The place your friend recommended. Have a look at our 5pm Dining Sale and see if they’ve got a £12 offer. Because if they do, this really is the best time to visit.

A quick ask around the office reveals the restaurants 5pm staff have been meaning to try are, The Fish People Cafe, which is tucked beside Shields Road subway in Glasgow and has an excellent reputation and a great 5pm sale offer of two courses with a glass of wine for £12, Horn Please, a funky Indian street food restaurant which opened last year in Glasgow’s Elderslie street and has a 5pm dining sale offer of £12 for two tapas with dessert, and Drygate Brewing Co. in Glasgow’s East End who have a dining sale offer for £12 for a burger and schooner.

Check dates during the week

If a restaurant has no £12 sale offers in Friday or Saturday, have a look at their weekday availability. Di Maggio’s in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square has an incredible three courses for £12 offer available from Sunday to Thursday, Bar Soba Edinburgh has a £12 for two courses with a glass of wine from Sunday-Friday, and Cafe Andaluz in Glasgow is offering two courses with a glass of wine for £12 from Sunday-Thursday.

Check lunch offers

Alternatively, a restaurant may have a fantastic sale deal tucked away as a lunch offer so consider dining in the afternoon instead of evening (frame it as a late lunch or early dinner). Restaurants which have great sale offers in the afternoon are The Sisters Kelvingrove which have an amazing three courses for £12 offer available between 12pm-4pm Monday to Friday, Chop Chop Edinburgh which have a £12 unlimited banquet lunch with tea or coffee from 12pm to 1.45pm on Monday-Friday, and Glasgow’s La Bonne Auberge which offer £12 for two courses from 12pm to 2pm available all week.

Luxury restaurants

Some of Glasgow and Edinburgh’s most highly regarded restaurants are taking part in our dining sale, giving you the opportunity to dine for only £12 in a restaurant that usually much more expensive. Our picks are Cafe Rogano in Glasgow which has a sale offer of £12 for 2 courses, Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Glasgow who have a two courses for £12 lunch offer, and Cafe St Honore in Edinburgh which has a lunch sale offer of £12 for one course.

Offers with drinks

Many of our 5pm dining sale offers include a glass of wine as part of their £12 deal which means you don’t even need to shell out a few pounds for drink to accompany your meal. Citation in Glasgow offer two courses and a glass of wine as their sale deal, Antipasti in Glasgow’s £12 sale offer is two courses and a glass of wine, and Lebowskis Edinburgh offer a pint of beer or glass of wine along with a burger for £12 in their sale offer. There are lots more £12 sale offers with drinks included so make sure to have a good look.

There are many restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh with offers priced at £12 throughout January so make sure to check out our 5pm Dining Sale and snap up your perfect deal – while you can.
