All we will add is that you should act sharpish.

Demand peaks with Valentine’s Day dinner

Valentine’s Day dinner is obviously a peak demand slot with half the country keen to whisper sweet nothings over the linguini alle vongole.

If you really want to push the boat out, you could mix up a cheeky little cocktail to sip before heading out on your Valentine’s Day dinner date.

Below we have the recipe for The Rosebud.

Valentine's Day dinner
Whip up The Rosebud before heading out for your Valentine’s Day dinner.

Suitably pink in colour and with a delicate foam topping, courtesy of the shaken egg white, it will require a visit to a decent bottle shop for some of the ingredients.

Worth it though.

It’s from our friends at Daffy’s Gin. The brand recently celebrated its second birthday.

We’re always happy to see Scottish gin brands doing well and last year was a very good one for Daffy’s.

They sealed a sponsorship deal with Formula 1 team Manor Racing, a move which introduced their gin to a worldwide audience.

Daffy’s also got a distribution deal with Waitrose meaning that their gin is stocked in all 234 of its UK supermarkets.

The Rosebud from Daffy’s Gin

40mls Daffy’s

15mls Rose vermouth

25mls fresh lemon

15mls grenadine

25mls egg white

2 dashes rose water

Franklin & Sons strawberry mixer

Put everything in a shaker and give it a good bash about.

Pour into a coupette and top up with Franklin & Sons strawberry mixer.

Now, whizzing up a top notch cocktail like this will win brownie points from even the most exacting other half.

To really go the extra mile – and earn bonus brownie points – garnish with three rose buds in the centre and sprinkle a little cracked black pepper.
