Not booked your Mother’s Day meal? Don’t panic (yet). But book soon as restaurants on Mother’s Day are filling up fast. Here’s eight of our Mother’s Day restaurant picks in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Glasgow

Chaophraya

The spectacular surroundings of Chaophraya in Glasgow, complete with gold chandeliers, a soaring ceiling covered in ornate cornicing, balconies and curved leather banquettes, result in a memorable dining experience for mum. The Thai menu more than matches the interior, with a wide selection of Thai curries, noodle dishes, salads, grill dishes, soups and more, all beautifully presented and and packed with flavour. Chaophraya Glasgow’s Mother’s Day offer includes two courses from their lunch menu with a tea or coffee and Benefit Cosmetics staff will be on site offering make overs to mums.

The Western Club

The Western Club is the epitome of elegance, with a sophisticated dining room decorated in soft, muted tones overlooking Royal Exchange Square. Local seasonal produce is the focus of the kitchen and dishes on their Mother’s Day menu includes Scottish smoked salmon and crayfish tails, with soft boiled quails egg, smoked caviar, lime dressing, and free range breast of chicken wrapped in pancetta with peas, Chantenay carrots, fondant potato and light chicken jus. Our dessert pick would be the warm chocolate cake with cherry syrup.

Cameron House – Claret Jug at the Carrick

The Claret Jug is part of the five star Cameron House Hotel’s Carrick Clubhouse and Spa. Overlooking the resort’s golf course, it is a picturesque spot for a Mother’s Day Sunday lunch (especially if the weather holds up). Their Mother’s Day menu offers spring dishes such as slow cooked rump of Highland lamb with garlic + Rosemary mash, peas a la francaise and Rosemary Jus, and pea and mint ravioli with Confit garlic press, feta and toasted pine nuts. We would also definitely be trying the starter of gin cured Scottish salmon. Mums dining on the 5pm offer receive an ESPA Travel Bath and Body Essential gift set with their meal.

Nick’s Italian

Nick’s Italian Bar & Grill is situated in the West End’s affluent Hyndland Road. With decor is designed to mimic a contemporary Manhattan loft, it has a cool and cosy vibe. Their food is a fusion of Italian and American dishes and their Mother’s Day menu features roast garlic and thyme rib-eye of beef with goose fat potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, market vegetables and a Diane sauce, and chargrilled fajita chicken supreme with crisp proscuitto topped with mozzarella on dressed leaves with tomatoes, croutons and caesar dressing. The dessert section looks particularly yummy – red velvet fudge cake with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, and warm Belgian waffles with banana, maple syrup, and vanilla ice cream would be our picks.

Edinburgh

Malmaison Brasserie

Situated on Leith dock with gorgeous views over the port, Malmaison Brasserie is a gorgeous location for a Mother’s Day lunch, especially if it’s a sunny day. Dishes on the menu change with the seasons and those dining on the Mother’s Day menu have the option of choosing a roast dinner as the main, either with USDA black Angus Picanha rump or Whole Normandy cord fed chicken as the focus. Other dishes include the hake poached in red wine with glazed shallot and salsify pomme mousseline, and the dolcelatte and walnut tortelloni with beetroot purée and pickled baby beets.

Cadiz

Seafood loving mums should head to Cadiz, a slick and stylish restaurant in Edinburgh’s George Street. The menu uses Scottish seafood to create Spanish flavours and dishes, such as the Shetland mussels cooked with white wine, chorizo and chilli which is on the Mother’s Day menu. Non seafood lovers are catered for too, with dishes like Spanish tortilla and roasted breast of chicken with Spanish morcilla served with buttered new potatoes, spring onion and a thyme scented cream sauce.

Amarone

Mother's Day restaurant Amarone EdinburghMum is sure to be blown away if you take her to Amarone on Mother’s Day. The A listed former bank has stunning surroundings of a domed ceiling, striking silver mobiles which float gracefully in the vast space, a long marble topped bar and a whole wall filled Murano blown glass figures and vases. The food is Italian and their Mother’s Day menu has a selection of pasta and pizza dishes like spicy salami Milano, mascarpone cheese, roquito chilli pepper, sautéed mixed mushrooms and fresh rocket, and hand-stretched pizza with home-made pizza sauce and mozzarella, topped with black olives, roasted peppers, courgettes and drizzled with pesto.

Asti

Asti is a laid back Italian restaurant and cafe just minutes from the Edinburgh playhouse. It serves comforting Italian dishes and its Mother’s Day menu includes pan-fried rosemary and lemon chicken, spinach, gorgonzola and barley risotto, and ravioli with goats cheese and figs, cherry tomatoes and white wine butter. Make sure to point the chef’s selection of desserts to mum – they change regularly.
