Mother's Day dining

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Check out 5pm’s Mother’s Day dining offers.

We all owe our mothers a lot.

Who else would have made us egg in a cup when we were feeling poorly?

Who else would cooed over our frankly unsettling early attempts at finger painting?

And who else would have taught us eco-friendly phrases such as ‘It’s like Blackpool illuminations in here!’ and ‘Were you born in a barn?’

The latter always seemed to invite the riposte ‘You tell me. I assume you were there?’

Anyway. Mothers. We owe them a lot.

Say thank you by treating your Mum to a meal out.

The 5pm Mother’s Day dining page has a host of tempting offers on lunches, dinners and afternoon tea.

Vanilla and salted caramel sundae

The ever popular Di Maggio’s in Glasgow city centre is offering a two course Mother’s Day menu at £13.95.

We would opt for the lasagne – it’s been a Di Maggio’s best seller for twenty years – followed by vanilla and salted caramel sundae.

Sticking with the Italian theme, Asti is a sparkly little trattoria on Edinburgh’s Broughton Street.

On Mother’s Day, £19.95 will buy you two courses from the Mother’s Day menu plus a glass of Prosecco.

If Mum has a taste for traditional Scottish dishes then you might want to take a look at the Mother’s Day menu at Ingram Wynd in Glasgow’s Merchant City.

Mother’s Day lunch is £16.95 for three courses and the menu includes choices such as seafood pie, haggis-stuffed chicken breast and prawn Marie Rose – served with brown bread, naturally.

Mother’s Day dining with a Scottish twist

In Merchant Square, Arisaig is another restaurant that flies the flag for Scottish produce.

They are running a Mother’s Day menu at £18.95 for three courses with a chilled glass of Prosecco.

We have our eye on the Edinburgh Gin-cured, smoked salmon with focaccia and salsa verde followed by the confit duck leg which comes with slow-cooked red cabbage, mash potato and red wine jus.

There are plenty more options over at the Mother’s Day dining and gift page.
