Enjoy the sunshine with Dine Out Edinburgh

You can book online and search through menus and user reviews to find the dining experience that best suits you.

Here at 5pm HQ, we’re really enjoying the sunshine so we’ve suggested five Dine Out Edinburgh restaurants where you can eat al fresco.

If we hadn’t featured them in a previous blog then this list would include Cucina in the city centre and the Chez Mal restaurant in the eye-catching Malmaison hotel on Tower Place in Leith.

Both have outside dining areas where you can eat in the sun.

Go catch some rays!

They have tables outside the front of the bar and, when the weather is fine, the floor to ceiling windows are also opened to the sunshine.

56 North is especially known for its extensive gin selection and fine array of cocktails. Ideal for slaking a thirst when the sun is beating down.

You can book into 56 North via 5pm Dining.

Many guests enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the garden and, if the weather is kind, some even dine in the gardens. Inside the restaurant, the decor is smart and contemporary.

Located just around the corner from The Playhouse Theatre, the Terrace Restaurant is the ideal choice for an early dinner before your show.

Scottish Cafe and Restaurant

Tucked under the Scottish National Gallery and with spectacular views across Princes Street Gardens to Waverley, The Scottish Cafe and Restaurant is a spacious, daytime venture which acts as a showcase for Scotland’s artisan producers. The owners even grow some ingredients for their restaurants in their own kitchen garden.

Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon and high tea, The Scottish Cafe and restaurant takes understandable pride in their sourcing. From the Stornoway black pudding in the breakfast rolls to the Isle of Mull Cheddar in the scones via the Linda Dick chicken, this is an operation which wears its heart on its menu.

The food is simple, thoughtful and well prepared rather than fussy and over worked.

5pm customers have left lots of glowing reviews such as this:

‘Friendly, polite staff, fast service, lovely setting and amazing food. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.’

Their Dine Out Edinburgh offer is £15.95 for fish & chips + beer or glass of wine.

Tower Restaurant specialises in Scottish cuisine with a global flair and uses only the best produce in the dishes they create.
