If you have enjoyed a bottle of wine in a Glasgow or Edinburgh restaurant in the last few years, there is a reasonable chance that it was provided by the wine merchant L’Art du Vin.

Based in Fife, they supply wines to restaurants such as Martin Wishart, Cail Bruich and Fred Berkmiller’s l’escargot ventures.

You can meet the team and taste more than 50 of their wines when they hold their Artisan Wine Fair at the Columcille Centre in Edinburgh on Saturday 20th May 2017, 12-6pm.

Real Wine Month

To help promote Real Wine Month, the Scottish wine merchant will be showcasing over 50 different organic, biodynamic and natural wines as well as offering masterclasses.

Throughout the day, the l’Art du Vin team will be offering samples of the wines to taste and sharing their passion and knowledge with attendees.

Bottles and cases can also be bought on the day, with special offers running on lots of bottles. There will also be a variety of artisan food for sale throughout the afternoon. Look out for charcuterie from l’escargot blanc Bar à Vin and cheeses from I. J. Mellis Cheesemongers in Morningside.

‘During Real Wine Month, we normally run special offers on a selection of our wines. This year, in addition to the offers, we saw it as the perfect opportunity to share the type of wines we’ve become best known for in the trade,’ says Richard Bouglet, Director at l’Art du Vin.

‘This is a chance for us to directly communicate with people who want to try quality wine that has been made by artisan producers with as little intervention as possible in the winery… bottles that can’t be bought in the supermarket.’

L’Art du Vin focuses on independent producers

l’Art du Vin was founded in September 2007 by Philippe Larue and Richard Bouglet with the help of Valerie MacDonald and Mark Douglas. Their focus is to supply quality wines from small, independent artisan producers that are made with passion and integrity whilst being true to their terroir.

Each ticket bought for the Artisan Wine Fair  will be automatically entered into a draw to win a Jeroboam (aka a double magnum… aka 3 litres… aka 4 standard bottles) of Lealtanza Reserva Rioja from the fantastic Bodegas Altanza in Spain.

Tickets cost £22 and are available from the l’Art du Vin website.

The event takes place at the Columcille Centre, next to the Dominion Cinema, in Edinburgh on Saturday 20th May 2017, noon-6pm.
