The food and drink festival season is in full flight. This weekend, North Hop rolls into Glasgow’s SWG3.

North Hop Glasgow takes place at SWG3 on Eastvale Place over three sessions on Friday 16 June and Saturday 17 June.

This midsummer mash-up will present a feast of new drinks, street food and music. Dressing up in a summer stylee is encouraged.

The Glasgow festival features a number of emerging acts, including Saturday night headliners, Foreignfox. Alternative rock favourites, We Came From Wolves, headline the Friday evening session.

North Hop Bespoke drinks

One of the event’s trademarks is introducing bespoke drinks to each festival.

For North Hop Glasgow, the all-new Dog Days Gin (fruity and spicy, with a tang of juniper and orange) is being mixed by Perthshire-based Persie Distillery.

Another summertime sensation comes from St Andrews Brewing Co. Their festival brew is a Bramble Saison, made using local brambles from around the town of St Andrews.

The festival cider is made by Thistly Cross Cider. The Dunbar-based brewery’s Farmhouse Cider has been a huge hit at previous North Hops.

New beers

There will be a number of new beers from the breweries at the festival.

Eyeball Brewing, a microbrewery from Cockenzie in East Lothian, will showcase a new beer. Eyeball Orange is a 6.5% dark orange lager and it offers a different perspective on the coffee and chocolate flavours of dark malts.

The growth in the Scottish gin market is reflected in a raft of new gins. Jindea Single Estate Tea Gin is a new line from Aberdeen’s 10 Dollar Shake.

The Glasgow Distillery Co will also be serving up a selection of different editions of Makar Glasgow gin.

Street food

True to form, the North Hop Glasgow street food offering is diverse. Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, Reekie’s Smokehouse, Street Food Putter Club, Wild Fig and Loch Fyne Oysters will all be cooking up a storm.

There are three sessions:

Today – 7pm till midnight

Saturday 16 June 2017 – noon-5pm and 7pm till midnight

Strictly over 18’s only.

Tickets cost £17.50 + booking fee per session. Includes festival access on the specified days/times, a North Hop glass, festival programme, and 1 Festival Brew/Festival Cider token.

The festival will operate on a cash bar system.
