A spa day is like closing the door to the rest of the world. For a few blissful hours your time is focused on nothing but achieving complete relaxation. If a spa day is done right it can have the same effect as a two week holiday, leaving you completely refreshed.

It’s fair to say we at the 5pm blog are a fan of spa days. So when Troon Marine Hotel invited us to indulge in their spa day Big Deal, we didn’t have to think twice before taking them up on their offer. Here’s six reasons we think you should indulge too.

1. It’s easy to get to

Troon Marine Hotel Spa

Troon Marine Hotel is just a 45 minute drive from Glasgow. Those travelling on public transport can get the train to Troon directly from Glasgow Central. The hotel is around £3 in a taxi.

2. It’s in a scenic location

Troon Marine Hotel sits on the Ayrshire coast overlooking the Royal Troon Golf Course and the Isle of Arran beyond. The hotel’s swimming pool has floor to ceiling windows allowing guests to enjoy the view as they take a dip or soak in the jacuzzi. Its Truin restaurant also has floor to ceiling windows so you can dine overlooking the golfers and the view of Arran. The weather was too typical of the Scottish summertime (i.e. heavy rain) for us to go outside but the nearby beaches also make for a lovely coastal walk.

3. The spa facilities are excellent

The spa in Troon Marine Hotel has everything you need for an ultimate day of relaxation: a heated swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room. It also has some pool side loungers on which to kick back and psych yourself up for another round of pool-jacuzzi-sauna-steam.

4. The treatments are high quality

The Troon Marine Spa Day Big Deal includes two treatments, allowing guests to choose from a facial, back neck and shoulder massage, scalp massage, hand or foot ritual, and file and polish for fingers or toes. I can never turn down a massage, ever, and my feet currently have around five layers of hard skin, so I opted for the back, neck and shoulder massage and the foot ritual.

The therapist asked me a few questions and tailored the massage specific to the answers, resulting in a deep tissue massage where I could actually feel the knots on my shoulders being kneaded out. The foot ritual consisted of a foot massage followed by a scrub and polish. My feet were then placed into two heated pouches which kind of looked like oven gloves. As someone with particularly cold feet, my toasted new soft tootsies felt wonderful. My feet emerged feeling silk like soft and hard skin free. All the products used in the treatments at Troon Marine Spa are from high end beauty brand, Elemis.

5. The food is delicious

After we had been pampered to our hearts content, we headed over to the Troon Marine Hotel’s Truin restaurant to tuck into the two course lunch which is included in the Big Deal. The menu at the Truin restaurant changes regularly with the seasons and makes the inclusion of local Ayrshire produce a priority. We opted for the tomato and basil soup and chicken liver parfait to start and the mushroom linguine and chicken and ham schnitzel with coconut sauce and caramelised pineapple as our main courses. Delicious!

6. The deal is amazing value

You can experience all of the above: two treatments, use of the spa facilities and a two course lunch, for just £49 on the 5pm Big Deal, or £89 for two. This is a 45% discount on the usual price. Amazing value for money.

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, convenient, luxurious spa day, our Big Deal at the Troon Marine Spa is a fantastic option.
