Have you heard of The Fish People's Cafe? It's one of Glasgow's best kept dining secrets. If fish is your fancy then you need to pay it a visit.

It's in a bit of an odd location but very easy to get to, straight across from Shield's Road Subway Station in Glasgow's South Side.

The proprietors also own the fish shop across the path so you can be certain you're getting the freshest seasonal fish in the restaurant.

We took a trip for lunch recently on their fantastic value 5pm offer, £16.50 for 2 courses on lunch & early evening menu + glass of wine, book it here.

Take a look at the dishes we had in this stylish restaurant below and you can see The Fish People's Cafe Menu here.

Starters

We picked the coarse Campsie glen smoked salmon spread with sriracha mayo and Lilliput capers (above)...

...and the marinated herring with smokey red pepper, root horseradish and honey roast oatmeal.

Main courses

Of course, more fish follows for the main courses and we went for the healthier alternative to fish and chips, lemon and herb crusted Fraserburgh haddock with a parmesan mayo and hand cut chips.

The second main course we picked was the grilled sole fillets (above), which came on a bed of  thyme buttered peas, pancetta, sun-dried tomato and braised baby gem.

Desserts

The fresh dessert menu tempted us to go for pudding. We picked the kaffir lime and coconut posset with caramelised pineapple (above)...

... and the passionfruit sherbet with mixed berry granola and rosemary stewed rhubarb.
