Never mind 'Sun's out, guns out'. We prefer 'Sun's out, gin is in'.

At Edinburgh's Hotel du Vin, they are making the most of the sunshine with the Caorunn Summer Garden.

Caorunn Gin have taken over the hotel's sun-dappled courtyard and are serving a range of newly created cocktails for al fresco sipping.

Open from 11am until 11pm every day until mid-September, the Caorunn Summer Garden has been kitted out with an eye-catching, apple-strewn, wooden bar.

There is plenty of space for lounging around and, should the weather turn more chilly, there are lots of cosy fleece blankets scattered about.

Over the summer months, a program of live acoustic music, entertainment and barbecue evenings will entertain visitors.

Of course, guests can dine in the courtyard. Hotel du Vin's kitchen has devised an al fresco menu of sandwiches, grilled dishes and light bites.

Caorunn Summer Garden: G'n'Ts in the sun

We forecast that Caorunn’s classic G&T will be a big seller. It is made with Fever Tree Tonic and slices of red apple, served over ice.

The red apple complements the coul blush apple which is used as one of the botanicals in Caorunn along with foraged rowan berry, bog myrtle, heather and dandelion leaves.

And if the hot weather continues, we can definitely see the attraction of the Frozen Citrus Cup cocktail. An icy option, this blends Caorunn Gin, Campari, fresh lemon, orange juice and gomme syrup.

And if you are not so keen on eating outside, there is always the option of booking into the bistro at Hotel du Vin via 5pm Dining.

We also have a Big Deal on a Champagne lunch at the hotel.

Priced at £32, the big Deal is for two people to have a two course lunch from the prix fixe menu with a glass of Hotel du Vin Lombard & Co Cuvée Champagne for each guest.

The offer is valid until the end of July.
