Absurd Bird's unique take on interior design. We ain't in Kansas anymore. Pic: Facebook

Do we have any new Glasgow restaurants on 5pm Dining? Well, thank you for asking. Howzabout Absurd Bird?

We have mentioned this new chicken joint on Nelson Mandela Place before.

However, they are now bookable on 5pm Dining so we thought we would have another peck at the cherry.

Following successful restaurants in London, Bath, Exeter and Leeds, Absurd Bird has brought its brand of deep-fried Southern cuisine to Glasgow.

And, as you might have expected from the name, it's a whole mess of fun.

Absurd Bird: deep-fired Babybel and Wotsit sauce

The restaurant’s interior looks like Dolly Parton was given free rein of the decor. Neon cowboy boots and country lyrics adorn the walls alongside kitsch brocade wallpaper and velvet booths.

If you love chicken and deep fried food, you’ll love the menu at Absurd Bird in Glasgow. Diners can roll up their sleeves and get stuck into a range of burgers, wings, sliders, waffles and fried chicken.

Those who are watching their figure can opt for one of the wraps or salad bowls.

Inventive combinations on the menu include wings served with an Irn Bru sauce and buffalo chicken served with a deep fried Babybel and Wotsit dip.

And the indulgence continues all the way to the desserts, which include peanut butter cheesecake and a cookie ice cream sandwich.

The restaurant also has a mammoth drinks menu of cocktails, shooters, spirits, wine, beer and even moonshine.

Book in via 5pm Dining and you can take advantage of some very generous offers.

For instance, Monday Madness gives diner s a 50% discount on main courses while there is a 50% saving on burgers on Tuesdays.

On Wednesdays, £12 will buy you fries and unlimited wings.

Tattoo for vindaloo

Sticking with Glasgow's restaurants, we liked this tattoo-related story on the Glasgow Live site.

A woman called Beth - no surname given - had 'Shish Mahal' tattooed on her hip in exchange for free curry for a year for her Dad.

Apparently, the Park Road restaurant is continuing to offer a year's supply of curry - T&Cs apply - to anyone who has their name tattooed on their skin.
