Crude national stereotyping would have it that the German sense of humour is, at best, under developed. If you were to believe the stereotype then a Germanic boozer would not be the first place to look for laughs. This outrageous lie will be tested to breaking point tomorrow evening when Glasgow’s West Brewery, Bar and Restaurant plays host to a trio of New York comedians.

At West they brew and sell beer made according to strict German purity laws, the Reinheitsgebot of 1516. While they take their beer seriously at West, New Yorkers Bernadette Pauley, Marshall Chiles and Danny Lobell are determined to have punters laughing into their hefeweizen or wheat beer.

The gig is part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival which is putting on comedy gigs in several of Glasgow’s bars and restaurants. If you fancy a titter with your tagine or a side order of giggles with your lamb gigot then try these 5pm members who are also hosting gag merchants tomorrow night.

Sloans is running a comedy ceilidh mash-up as well as a show called Triple Scotch. Acerbic San Franciscan Scott Capurro is at the Tron while up and coming Scottish comedian Kevin Bridges is rocking Oran Mor. Arta is hosting the Bumper Value Comedy Show while Gary Little is headlining at Alea.
