On a rainy Monday morning with the papers full of stories about swine flu, it is not always easy to look on the bright side of life. However, there are little rays of sunshine piercing the gloom and two of them go by the name of Stefano and Sandro Giovanazzi.

The Giovanazzi brothers are movers and shakers on Glasgow’s Italian restaurant scene. La Parmigiana and the two Paperino’s restaurants are their babies. Sticking two fingers up to the recession, the Giovanazzi fratellis have just announced plans to launch a third Paperino’s at 78 St Vincent Street.

The French bistro that was there previously closed down earlier this year but Stefano and Sandro are breathing new life and big bucks into the building. When it opens next month, Paperino’s at 78 St Vincent Street will dish up trad Italian cuisine such as pasta, pizza, meat and fish dishes along with early morning coffee and pastries.

If you can’t wait that long for a mouthful of Margherita then you might want to look up these nearby 5pm members: Amarone, Antipasti, DiMaggio’s, Fratelli Sarti and Il Pavone.
