Number Sixteen on Byres Road has recently re-opened after it closed suddenly at the end of January. The Glasgow restaurant is now under new ownership but fans of the old regime may well recognise a few faces and dishes on the menu.

Joel Pomfret, a previous assistant manager at the restaurant, is now looking after the front of house while chef Gerry Mulholland is back for his second stint in the kitchens.

‘In our first week of trading about 80% of our business was from customers who liked the old place,’ says Joel. ‘We’ve kept on a couple of favourite dishes like the pork belly and fishcakes but we’re introducing new dishes.’

Wine fans will be pleased to hear that one big change put in place by the new team is a 25% reduction in drinks prices.

Number Sixteen has joined up with 5pm so you can check out their deals here.
