Lebowskis, the Glasgow bar that takes its lead from the laidback hero of the Coen brothers film The Big Lebowski, very quietly opened a new branch in Edinburgh on Thursday.

The bowling slacker at the heart of the film always made me want to look out my ‘Kill Hippies’ badge but Jeff Bridges’ character is a cult hero for many. This website insists that there is a little bit of the Big Lebowski in all of us and even has a quiz so you can find out what sort of Lebowski you are. There is a little bit of swearing on there which you may want to take into consideration if you are at work.

Quite a few Glasgow restaurants have film connections. Guy’s is named after its owner Guy Cowan who fed many a star when he ran a film catering business. Oscars is as movie-mad as its name suggests and the Tron is named after the 1982 sci-fi film which, by happy coincidence, also starred Jeff Bridges. Alright, I’m joking about the Tron.
