Ever since Iggy Campos opened his Iggs restaurant in Edinburgh’s Old Town, way back in 1989, tapas have always been a feature on his menus. Seeing which way the wind was blowing, he beefed up the tapas part of his offer in 2001 when he opened Barioja, a dedicated tapas bar next to the original Iggs.

Now he has gone a step further and launched a new menu in Iggs which puts the emphasis on tapas rather than starters and main courses. Typical choices include a dish of sausages, cider, peppers and free range egg; cod fritters and alioli and veggie options such as the pisto or grilled aubergines, courgettes, peppers, tomato and potato.

Given the popularity of tapas in British restaurants, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Spanish eat nothing else but Iggy hasn’t completely forgotten about trad three course meals. Main courses like his char-grilled lamb chops with romesco sauce and langoustines cooked with garlic butter and vanilla salt are also available on the new menu.
