Loving this story today about Hahn Family Wines‘ Gladiator Cycles range being banned in Alabama because it features a picture of a naked nymph on the label.  It tickled me because though admittedly somewhat risque the 1895 Georges Massias poster has been so massively re printed that I’m astounded anyone can still be offended by it.  I don’t think I set foot in a flat as a student that didn’t have a print displayed somewhere.

The Hahn Family isn’t complaining though, they’ve immediately spotted the massive marketing potential and are printing point of sale displays reading ‘Banned in Bama’.  They’re already enjoying 10 times their usual traffic to their website and they’re predicting ‘a significant increase in sales’, so they won’t be missing the 500 cases they sold each year in Alabama.
