Judging by the number of speciality tea boutiques and shops which are opening up, as well as the increase in hotels offering afternoon tea, it seems as though the humble cup of char is fighting back against coffee’s dominance.
Glasgow’s Carlton George Hotel has joined the battle with a special offer of afternoon tea for just £10 per person. Served on the seventh floor executive suite, the tea comprises a glass of sparkling wine, along with a selection of sandwiches, home made scones and shortbread, cakes, fruit tarts and tablet with tea. Or coffee, if you must.
The offer is part of its tenth birthday celebrations and runs until 31 July.
